The location for the next Winter Orienteering Event organised by the Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteers (HALO) is on Beverley Westwood on Saturday March 10th. Registration, Start and Finish will be close to Burton Bushes opposite the Racecourse Grandstand.
Burton Bushes consists of approximately 26 acres of natural woodland on the western boundary of the pasture. The woodland is a remnant of the primeval forests that once covered the pasture area, and is an indication of what the Westwood looked like in early times before grazing animals and tree felling altered the landscape. This area is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and been fenced-off from cattle, to allow it to regenerate…
