The blue and golds will rue not converting pressure into points in this clash. There seemed little to choose between the two sides in terms of ability, except the visitors took advantage of every error that the home side made.

All 4 of St Jude’s tries were the result of an error. This combined with scrambling well in defence proved to be the deciding factors in the game.

Double Header Of Action This Week For Beverley ARLFC

The blue and golds will take on Hull Dockers this Saturday in their only derby fixture this season. Beverley will face Hull Dockers at 2.30pm kick-off at the Leisure Centre.

The match is also the second leg of the Paul ‘Curly’ Quiney Cup. The match, sponsored by the Middleton family, seems likely to attract the biggest crowd of the season so far to the Leisure Centre with a lot riding on the game.

The blue and golds kick-started their season with this win which was harder work than the scoreline suggests. Barrow Island arrived in town looking to extend a seven-game winning run stretching back to last July but the hosts had other ideas.  

Barrow looked to blow the opposition away very early on and raced to an 18-0 lead in only 11 minutes. Jack Howdle forced his way over from close range quickly followed by a try from dummy half by Tom Moor.

Beverley ARLC managed to salvage a point from a tense and stormy affair at Wakefield in a match that saw the blue & golds perfect start come to an end with 22-22 draw against Eastmoor Dragons.

Beverley now sit five points clear of Clock Face who won last Thursday and seven points ahead of third placed Barrow Island who slipped to a shock 42-16 defeat to Gateshead Storm.

Beverley ARLC  negotiated a potentially tricky trip up the A1 to maintain their 100% record as they beat Gateshead Storm in the National Conference League.

As has been the case on a number of occasions this season it was the first half performance which set them up for victory. Playing down the slope in the first half, the visitor’s pace caused countless problems for the opposition.
