East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be repairing and resurfacing a section of the carriageway near to the traffic lights, between Downe Street and Bridlington Road on the B1249 Scarborough Road (started 8 May). The works are part of the council’s programme to improve roads within the East Riding and should be completed in three day, weather permitting. Should there be delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, the scheme may extend beyond the expected completion date. Intended working hours are 9.15am to 3.15pm daily. Unfortunately, due to the narrow width of the carriageway and to undertake the work safely, it will be necessary to close the road to through traffic during working hours. Access will be maintained for pedestrians and emergency services at all times. Through traffic will be diverted via New Road, Exchange Street, Market Place, Middle Street North, North Street and Windmill Hill. The local bus service into the adjacent estate will be unaffected by the works. Should you have any questions or require further information, contact the project engineer, Jeff Taylor, on (01482) 395504 or email jeffrey.taylor@eastriding.gov.uk Whilst the work is in progress, the site manager can be contacted via customer services on 0845 6001666.…
