
The council has announced the winners of the second East Riding Best Bar None Awards, which are funded by the National Best Bar None Group, and saw the Royal Mail at Thorngumbald walk away as overall winner of the scheme. The Kings Head was the only pub or bar from Beverley to get an award as they finished in third place. The Best Bar None Accreditation and Awards Scheme implemented in the East Riding focuses on safety, public health initiatives and customer care, as well as helping to raise standards in the licensed trade to ensure responsible management of the premises. In total, 35 premises applied to take part in the Best Bar None Scheme and 27 were successful in gaining accreditation. Assessments were carried out over a six-month period across the East Riding, with the aim of raising standards and recognising the best licensed premises in each of the four categories.
