HULL : Police Launch Operation Nightwing To Tackle Domestic Violence

Lots of things will be going up this Christmas: the tree and decorations, food prices, the number of nights out, alcohol intake, domestic violence. Stress levels tend to hit a peak during the festive period, which is what professionals believe may significantly contribute to the increased number of calls Humberside Police and partner agencies receive for domestic related incidents, between the months of November and January. A campaign is being launched in Hull on Friday 23 November, 2012, to make people aware of the help and support which is available to victims and perpetrators of domestic violence and abuse. The poster campaign will be visible at bus stops, on bill boards, in pubs, in cinema washrooms and inside buses. Operation Nightwing was launched in 2005. It is a police led domestic violence project, which runs from late November until the beginning of January every year. Extra resources are made available, so that officers can act immediately to respond to calls for service, which are of a domestic violence nature.
