East Riding Local Plan

The High Sheriff, Julie Good, presented the East Riding “Hot Spots” project with a cheque for £3,000 on Thursday, 10 January at Goole Leisure Centre, during a Twilight Football session for young people. This generous award will help fund positive activities such as sport, play and arts for young people in areas of the East Riding identified as possible “hot spots” for crime and anti-social behaviour. It will be based on Positive Futures programmes that already work well and will be located according to need; reflecting the concerns of communities and neighbourhood police officers. At the autumn meeting of the High Sheriffs’ and Humberside Police Tribune Trust the trustees approved grant awards totalling £10,000 to five community based projects. Geoff Ogden, director of the Tribune Trust, said: “All five projects reflect diverse but topical issues which through volunteers make a real difference in communities as all aspects of crime are tackled.” Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: “This is a valuable award to the community based initiative. A lot of good work is done to help youngsters get into the arts and find skills that will help them throughout their lives and help them find a career. The skills that they will learn will help them through all aspects…
