East Yorkshire Council

East Riding of Yorkshire Council will host a public exhibition at Driffield Community Centre, West Garth, on Tuesday, 16 April, 10am-4pm, to explain proposals for remodelling Kings Mill Special School, for which the council has applied for planning approval. Representatives of the school and the council’s design team will be on hand to explain the project and answer any questions. Councillors Barbara Hall and Symon Fraser will also be in attendance as will governors of the school. The exhibition is open to parents, neighbours and the general public and provides an opportunity for people to provide constructive feedback. They can also learn how to respond to the planning authority once the project comes online on the council’s website. Dave Waudby, head of infrastructure and facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Kings Mill is a thriving and popular school for children with special needs and sometimes complex learning difficulties. It has been at the heart of Driffield for about 50 years, but draws children from a wide catchment area of rural East Riding. “The school buildings are too small for the numbers of children currently on roll and there is a long waiting list. “The project would see a…

Feasibility works on the Willerby and Derringham Flood Alleviation Scheme (WaDFAS) and the Cottingham Orchard Park Flood Alleviation Scheme (COPFAS) are drawing to a close and the results exhibited at three locations so that the public can view the workable options, comment on the options for the schemes and offer ideas to shape the solutions that are currently on the table. The public exhibitions will be held at the Orchard Park Centre on Tuesday, 19 June from 2pm to 5.15pm, Haltemprice Leisure Centre on Wednesday, 20 June, from 9am-5.15pm, and at the Cottingham Civic Hall on Friday, 29 June, from 10am- 7.45pm. Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Both councils take flood prevention very seriously and these two schemes would go a long way in reducing the risk…

Land south east of roundabout, Woodhall Way, Molescroft,East Riding of Yorkshire. The Parish Council members have been consulted at the earliest stages in the formulation of this application which has been the subject of a public exhibition and resulted in well attended Parish Council meetings. The Parish Councillors have carefully listened to their constituents some of whom have been vociferous in their objections to both schemes, but at all times this was a listening process with no commitment prior to having the opportunity to consider the submitted application and take a balanced and informed view. The Parish Council has historically supported the existing adopted Local Plan policies and are aware that long standing plans may have to be reexamined in the light of the new national planning policies on sustainability and the new Local Development Framework. As far as we are concerned, however, unless we can be persuaded to the contrary, and this appears unlikely, the present Local Plan provisions do not show the site as being within the settlement limits for development and the first objection…
