Linden Homes Boosts Its Sales Team With Experienced New Staff

Award winning Linden Homes has strengthened its sales team in the North with two key appointments. Recently appointed sale manager Sarah Procter brings with her a wealth of experience, as well as a degree in property management, to work alongside the sales and marketing team at the developer’s Hessle head office. Sarah, who joins the company from a national house builder, will be providing additional support for regional sales manager Melanie Parker. With some 25 years’ new homes industry experience, Julie Watts will soon become a familiar face to customers around the North Lincolnshire, York and East Riding regions. Julie will be working in a sales executive role around Linden Homes’ popular developments before heading up the sales team at the company’s Thorpe Willoughby development when it opens later in the year. Close to the town of Selby, the village of Thorpe Willoughby will be the location for a new community – with Linden Homes having planning permission for 149 two, three and four-bedroom homes. Melanie said: “We are delighted to welcome both Sarah and Julie to the team and are sure that they will have a lot to offer the company – thanks to the experience they already have…

East Riding Local Plan

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of local construction company, Hobson & Porter, as the main contractor for the £6million Haltemprice Centre project, with the works scheduled to start at the end of April. The scheme, which forms part of the council’s capital investment programme, was granted planning permission in December last year and will improve access to service provision by bringing a number of local services under one roof, including Anlaby’s library and customer service centre, resulting in reduced running costs as well as addressing a number of maintenance requirements and improving the venue’s energy efficiency. Initial works will focus on the new extension to the rear of the building, which will become the main entrance, and refurbishment of outdoor pitches and creation of additional parking spaces. Work will be phased to minimise disruption, and will take approximately 20 months to complete, with the final element of the works completed in autumn 2014. Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The creation of the Haltemprice Centre to provide a host of services under one roof demonstrates the commitment of this council in continuing to provide high-quality services for our…

East Riding Local Plan

East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council have welcomed news that the Environment Agency has approved the grant funding application for a major flood alleviation scheme that will reduce the risk of flooding for around 8,000 properties. The £14.4 million Willerby and Derringham Flood Alleviation Scheme (WaDFAS) will consist of a series of lagoons at Rawdales Farm, Robson’s Cottage, Albion Mills and Carr Lane, which will hold around 205,000 cubic metres of water and was granted planning permission earlier this year. The next stages of the project will be to finalise the detailed design, procure a contractor and acquire the land necessary for the scheme, preferably by negotiation, although a compulsory purchase order is being prepared and anticipated to be published in spring/summer. Construction works are currently anticipated to start in summer 2014 and be complete in summer 2015. Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “I think I speak for both residents of the East Riding and Hull, when I say how welcome the news is that the funding for this important scheme has been secured and, with planning permission approved, that its delivery cannot happen soon enough. “The council takes the…

Planning Begins On £6m Haltemprice Leisure Centre Refurbishment

October 18, 2012
By

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to seek planning permission for a £6 million scheme that will refurbish, remodel and extend Haltemprice Leisure Centre, one of the busiest leisure centres in the country. The scheme, which forms part of the council’s capital investment programme, will address a number of maintenance requirements, improve the popular venue’s energy efficiency and bring a number of local services under one roof, including Anlaby Library and the customer service centre. A doctor’s surgery will also be developed at the leisure centre, an example of partnership work between the local authority and the NHS to benefit the local community. The doctor’s surgery also strengthens the important link between keeping active through leisure and health and well-being. The scheme would also include an extended tone zone fitness suite, refurbished pool and sports halls, a new cafe, refurbished outdoor pitches and the creation of additional parking spaces. Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The council realises the value our residents place in having access to high-quality leisure facilities, libraries and customer service provision and the plans for the refurbishment of Haltemprice Leisure Centre highlight this authority’s commitment to providing these services now…

Trading Standards Issue Warning About Renewable Technology Sales

September 11, 2012
By

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Trading Standards Service has received several complaints about firms offering solar panels and other forms of renewable technology. Complaints have related to issues such as shoddy work, exaggerated claims about financial benefit and delays in returning deposits after cancellation. The increase in demand for renewable technology, such as solar panels, has seen new businesses created over the last few years but unfortunately some of those businesses have already ceased trading, leaving some of their consumers out of pocket. Consumers interested in buying any form of renewable technology are advised to seek independent advice as their first step. The best course of action with any purchase is to get several written quotes from different suppliers to compare what is being offered before choosing a specific product or supplier. Consumers can also make enquiries with the council about whether they will need planning permission to install renewable technology. The Microgeneration Certification Scheme is a Government scheme that requires installers of renewable technologies and the products themselves to be certificated. A list of certificated installers and products are available online at www.microgenerationcertification.org Councillor Jackie Cracknell, cabinet portfolio holder for community partnerships at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:…

A planning application has been submitted to Hull City Council for building the Reality Energy Centre in the Port of Hull, a £130 million development project producing 49 Mega Watts of ‘green’ electricity and bringing significant employment opportunities to the area. The application has been lodged by the project’s developer, Real Ventures (Hull) Ltd. The Centre will provide between 200 and 250 jobs during a 30 month long construction period and 35 long term, permanent posts during the plant’s subsequent 25 year operational lifespan. Subject to planning permission being granted, work would begin on site early in the New Year. The plant will be fired by woody biomass fuel, imported by ship from sustainable sources directly to the Centre’s three hectare site at King George Dock. It will conform to strict standards for controlling flue gas emissions and noise. Councillor Steven Bayes, Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration and Employment said: “The news that Real Ventures has submitted its planning application for its Biomass plant – a key milestone in the process – is a step forward and if approved will further reinforce Hull’s position at the forefront of the low carbon economy. “Hull is rapidly developing as both an offshore…
