
There was a good turn out at the Humber Bridge Country Park for the seventh and final Orienteering Event of the Winter Series organised by Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteering club (HALO), despite a showery and fairly unpleasant day. The attendance was boosted by 15 family groups taking part, some of whom had travelled from North Lincolnshire to take advantage of the recently reduced Bridge tolls. Nearly 100 people turned up altogether, taking part either as individuals, pairs or family groups. The majority of the groups attempted a second course after successfully completing their initial course. Some even attempted a third, but a few of the families had to retire as closing time approached. A good day was had by all. The White course (1.1km) was won in well under 10 minutes by HALO junior Bella Brittain beating 31 other competitors. The fastest out of the 32 entrants on the Yellow course (1.7km) were Matty Reid and Isaac Blake. This was good practise for the Beverley youngsters who will be representing the Longcroft group of schools in next week’s East Riding Schools Final at Burton Constable Hall.
