A major road resurfacing scheme will start on the A166, from Stamford Bridge to Full Sutton Junction, on Monday, 16 April, as part of the council’s capital programme of maintenance works for 2012-13. The works are estimated to last for five weeks and will include a mixture of day-time and night-time shifts. The existing carriageway surface will be recycled and incorporated into the new carriageway, making the scheme cost-effective and reducing the impact on the environment. To keep disruption as minimal as possible, it has been agreed that, between 7pm-7am, the A166 will be closed to through traffic between Stamford Bridge and Full Sutton Junction, with traffic diverted via A1079-Shiptonthorpe Roundabout to the A614 Bainton to Driffield. Day-time work to lay the final surface course and install road markings and road studs will take place simultaneously with the night-time works but with a convoying system in operation to limit vehicle speeds through the site to 10mph, allowing local traffic access trough the site.
