
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of local construction company, Hobson & Porter, as the main contractor for the £6million Haltemprice Centre project, with the works scheduled to start at the end of April. The scheme, which forms part of the council’s capital investment programme, was granted planning permission in December last year and will improve access to service provision by bringing a number of local services under one roof, including Anlaby’s library and customer service centre, resulting in reduced running costs as well as addressing a number of maintenance requirements and improving the venue’s energy efficiency. Initial works will focus on the new extension to the rear of the building, which will become the main entrance, and refurbishment of outdoor pitches and creation of additional parking spaces. Work will be phased to minimise disruption, and will take approximately 20 months to complete, with the final element of the works completed in autumn 2014.
