Bransholme Residents Are Targeted By Police

April 30, 2013
By
Humberside Police

Four Bransholme streets will be targeted by the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Community Wardens, ASB Team, Environmental Team, Police Volunteers and Neighbourhood Network on Tuesday 30 April, in an attempt to reduce the number of burglary victims in the area. There was recently a spike in-house and shed/garage burglaries in the North Carr area, so the Neighbourhood Policing Team has taken the lead to tackle crime and give out crime prevention material and advice. If successful, the scheme will be rolled out across the city, as it is hoped that the residents will take on board the hints and tips given by all the partner agencies, who aim to protect the community and deter criminals from offending. Work is on-going in the community, to meet the bi-annual targets, which local residents set the emergency services and Hull City Council. PC Steve Hepworth from the North Carr Neighbourhood Policing Team, is leading the initiative, which will be operating between 0930hrs and 1530hrs. A second multi-agency event is planned for 21 June 2013, but it will take place in a different location in North Carr. The Neighbourhood Policing Team works closely with the local authority, community groups and businesses, particularly in…

By
East Riding Local Plan

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of local construction company, Hobson & Porter, as the main contractor for the £6million Haltemprice Centre project, with the works scheduled to start at the end of April. The scheme, which forms part of the council’s capital investment programme, was granted planning permission in December last year and will improve access to service provision by bringing a number of local services under one roof, including Anlaby’s library and customer service centre, resulting in reduced running costs as well as addressing a number of maintenance requirements and improving the venue’s energy efficiency. Initial works will focus on the new extension to the rear of the building, which will become the main entrance, and refurbishment of outdoor pitches and creation of additional parking spaces. Work will be phased to minimise disruption, and will take approximately 20 months to complete, with the final element of the works completed in autumn 2014. Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The creation of the Haltemprice Centre to provide a host of services under one roof demonstrates the commitment of this council in continuing to provide high-quality services for our…

E-safety Award For East Riding Primary School

An East Riding primary school has been recognised for their commitment to e-safety after becoming the first school in Yorkshire to receive a national award. Anlaby Acre Heads Primary School is one of just 47 schools in the country to be awarded the 360 degree safe e-safety mark after their e-safety provision was inspected by representatives from the South West Grid for Learning. After meeting with staff, pupils, parents and carers as well as governors, assessors found that the school provided a high level of protection for users through physical aspects of technology as well as education. The report said: “There is a very pro-active e-safety team successfully led by ICT subject leader, Michelle Radge, and there is a clear commitment to e-safety by the governors, senior leadership team, staff, children and all members of the school community, including parents. “The school’s technical support provider, Primary Tec, provides a robust and effective infrastructure that is effective in ensuring the e-safety of users within the school.” Lead assessor for the 360 degree safe e-safety mark, Ron Richards, congratulated the school on its success and said: “It is reassuring to know the school has put a lot of thought and effort into…

Grant Scheme For Organisations Supporting Youngsters With A Disability

February 21, 2013
By
East Riding Local Plan

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is launching a grant scheme aimed at helping organisations, which provide targeted support for children and young people who have a disability. The scheme is intended to help groups or organisations, which provide direct support for young people, enabling them to access social and leisure activities. This could, for example, mean organisations, which can provide support to enable a young person with a disability to take part in age appropriate activities such as attending a local youth club, sporting activity or the cinema. It aims to give families in receipt of funding through the local authority more options when deciding what support they wish to buy to provide social and leisure activities for the young person under their care. The grant scheme is being launched by the council’s Children’s Commissioning and Development Team. The grants should allow organisations, including commercial businesses, charities and voluntary groups to increase the quantity and range of support they provide. A number of eligible families in the East Riding already receive the Freedom Activity Support Payment and with the move towards personal budgets coming closer there will soon be more families than ever looking to buy the type of support…

Public Health Transfers To East Riding Of Yorkshire Council

February 20, 2013
By
East Riding Local Plan

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is taking over responsibility for public health from 1 April 2013, when NHS East Riding of Yorkshire will cease to exist. The move follows the Health and Social Care Act 2012, which returned a large number of public health responsibilities from the NHS to local authorities nationwide. Public health is about helping people to stay healthy and avoid getting ill, so services that will come under the council’s responsibility will include sexual health, drug and alcohol services, the national childhood measurement programme, school nursing, smoking cessation and health checks for people aged from 40 to 74 years. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is already taking a leading role in the development of health strategy, with the establishment of a Health and Wellbeing Board, which will be the forum to discuss performance with local partners, including Clinical Commissioning Groups, GPs, the NHS Commissioning Board and Healthwatch, the new consumer champion for health and social care. From 1 April, local authorities will have a duty to improve the health of the people in their area, and a responsibility for commissioning appropriat e public health services. Contracts for these services will transfer to the East Riding of Yorkshire Council…

Ensuring Quality In Child And Adolescent Mental Health Services

January 25, 2013
By
NHS East Riding

Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), Hull City Council and East Riding of Yorkshire Council are actively seeking views of young people, their carers and parents on plans to enhance local specialist mental health services for children and young people. There are approximately 135,000 children and young people aged 0- 19 in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire. From time to time all children and young people will have emotional problems that affect their wellbeing, and, for most, these problems are short-lived and easily resolved with the right support from friends, family and others, including health, social care and education professionals. For a small number of young people the problems are more severe and more specialist mental health assessment, support and sometimes treatment is required. These problems include for example; depression and anxiety, behaviour disorders, eating disorders, psychosis, and self-harming. The review of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) has been prompted by feedback from service users and providers that access and waiting times within the service could be improved. Young people, their parents and carers will therefore be invited to share their views and experience of the service. Feedback on the re-design proposals will also…

After reading ERYC description of ' a conservation area ' on their very own website I am a little unsure as to why ' the rules ' don't apply to them?? I am all for investment in our local area....why not make the cobbles an integral part of the alterations to saturday market? English Heritage seem to be able to protect lamposts and pillar boxes in Beverley.......why not the cobbles?? I wonder if York would have the same appeal to tourists down ' The Shambles ' if it was block paved??? I have signed the online petition @ sos save our setts if you are reading this please go there and sign too lets not let local authority ride rough shod over the conservation rules they themselves put in place for everyone else.
