Local MP encourages people to get online at an East Riding library

Graham Stuart, the MP for Beverley and Holderness, is encouraging people to visit East Riding libraries during Get Online Week from 15th to 22nd October. Everyone is invited to drop into their local library for a free session. Library staff will be on hand to help anyone wishing to explore information and help navigate a selection of websites. Get Online Week will be focusing on ways the internet can make life easier, including finding a job, saving money, and communicating with friends and family. Graham said, “The internet has transformed the way we live, and can make keeping in touch with people, shopping, and finding information easier than ever before. “If you’ve yet to get online then make sure you take this opportunity to learn how. Spring Online – Give Computers & The Internet A Go At Your Library

East Riding Libraries are inviting people of all ages and abilities to access the internet this spring by spending some time in their local library. Spring Online is part of the UK Online centres campaign to encourage people to give computers and the internet a go this spring with expert help from library staff. Spring Online runs from Monday, 23 April to Friday, 18 May and all libraries in the East Riding are taking part. It doesn’t matter if you have never even touched a computer before or if you already know a little bit, everyone is invited along to their local library for free sessions and you can progress onto free online courses should you want to. Members of the Leven Women’s Institute (WI) and staff from the East Riding Libraries Service will be promoting library membership on Saturday, 4 February to celebrate National Libraries Day. A stall will be set up, including sweets for children and bunting, outside the village shop, from 10.30am-12.30pm, and members of Leven Library staff and the WI will provide membership and opening time information as well as library joining forms for any resident who is not yet a library member. The stall was proposed by the WI as part of its national libraries campaign. Jean Johnson of Leven WI, said: “Ever since its inception, the WI has been involved with rural libraries.
