South Cave Library : Refurbishment Works See Temporary Closure

South Cave Library will close from Tuesday, 2 April until Tuesday, 14 May for refurbishment works, including a replacement heating system, installation of new secure automatic doors, creation of an entrance lobby, which will improve access for people with disabilities, and repainting both internally and externally. The library will close at the end of business, at 7pm, on 2 April and will reopen, at 2pm, on 14 May. The South Cave Library facility will be unavailable during the closure; however, alternative libraries are available at North Ferriby and the Petuaria Centre, in Brough. Residents can also renew library books online at www.eastriding.gov.uk/libraries Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The council is delighted to be investing in its library services at a time when other authorities are having to cut back and close facilities. “The council understands the value our residents place in having access to high-quality library provision and, whilst the temporary closure may cause some short-term inconvenience, the long term benefits will be enjoyed for years to come at this popular venue.” Use Facebook to Comment on this Post

GOOLE : Library To Be Refurbished

Goole Library will close for a period of seven weeks from Saturday, 2 June (4pm) as works begin which will result in improvements to the service, creating a relaxed and welcoming space for all library users. The work will see the introduction of self-service facilities and also the relocation of the local studies collection from the first floor to the ground floor. This will offer better access to the stock and services and raise awareness of the wealth of local studies resources available at the library. Councillor Richard Burton, cabinet portfolio holder for culture and civic-wellbeing at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “This refurbishment will make a real difference to everyone who uses this popular library. “Our commitment to providing up-to-date and accessible library facilities is well documented and this latest refurbishment follows on from other impressive upgrades of library facilities including those in North Ferriby and Bridlington.” During the period of closure there will be an alternative library service provided by a mobile library located on Estcourt Street, behind the library. East Riding Libaries & The Women’s Institute Celebrate National Libaries Day

Members of the Leven Women’s Institute (WI) and staff from the East Riding Libraries Service will be promoting library membership on Saturday, 4 February to celebrate National Libraries Day. A stall will be set up, including sweets for children and bunting, outside the village shop, from 10.30am-12.30pm, and members of Leven Library staff and the WI will provide membership and opening time information as well as library joining forms for any resident who is not yet a library member. The stall was proposed by the WI as part of its national libraries campaign. Jean Johnson of Leven WI, said: “Ever since its inception, the WI has been involved with rural libraries. We are keen to support any initiative that promotes libraries in general and in particular our local library where we always receive a friendly, personal and well-informed service.” Councillor Jane Evison, cabinet portfolio holder for rural issues and cultural services, said: “Libraries play a very important role within local communities and are a service our residents really value. “National Libraries Day is all about encouraging people to visit their local library and explore the range of services it has to offer as well as being able to make suggestions about anything that could be added to the service to meet…
