HESSLE : Special Measures Lifted At Infant School

Staff and pupils at All Saints Infant School in Hessle are celebrating after being taken out of special measures. In their fifth monitoring visit, Ofsted inspectors said it was no longer a school causing concern and the overall effectiveness was judged to be satisfactory. During an inspection in September 2010, the school was judged to require special measures but since then, it has undergone a significant change. A new head teacher, Karen Wood, was appointed in May 2011, following a period working on a temporary basis as head of school from September 2010. A new deputy head teacher was appointed in June 2011, a number of teachers have left the school and new teachers have joined. During the recent monitoring visit, inspectors found “effective leadership has resulted in a transformed learning environment and a number of significant improvements”. The report also added that pupils’ achievement was satisfactory and improving but said that children have a positive attitude to learning, their behaviour is good and they feel safe in school.
