Hull City Football club welcomes Cardiff City on Saturday 4th May 2013 for the last game of the regular Championship season. Humberside Police are expecting a sell out crowd at the KC Stadium to show their support to both teams and that Hull City supporters will get fully behind the team and drive them towards the three points the club need to secure second place and automatic promotion. Humberside Police in partnership with Hull City Football club are planning a joint operation aimed at ensuring the event will be safe for all those who are attending and, as a result, the public can expect to see a larger than normal police presence around the stadium and within the city centre. The public are encouraged to speak to police officers if they have any questions or concerns. The football match is an all ticket game, and tickets will not be on sale on match day. East Riding Of Yorkshire Council Prepared For Weekend Of Changing Weather

East Riding of Yorkshire Council

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has put plans in place to tackle a weekend of inclement weather, which sees snow, cold temperatures, rain and high winds all forecast. The East Riding of Yorkshire Council will be deploying its 17-strong gritter fleet this evening to treat the precautionary network as temperatures fall below zero and a band of snow crosses the East Riding, from 4pm until the early hours of Saturday morning. Forecasts are indicating blizzard conditions, with 5-10cm likely to fall across the area and up to 15cm on higher ground. The council will fit its gritters with their ploughs ahead of winter maintenance operations over the next 24 hours. As well as treating the main highway network, the council will continue to refill salt bins and deposit salt piles for use by residents and ensure high-pedestrian areas remain open to the public. On Saturday and Sunday, forecasts are indicating slightly milder weather, resulting in snow and ice thawing, and rain and high winds on Monday. With the East Riding catchment already saturated, the council will be monitoring weather conditions closely, especially in areas affected by flooding over the Christmas and New Year period, and will have staff and equipment on…

Localised flooding across Humberside area

November 25, 2012
By
floods

Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is currently attending a large number of localised flooding incidents across the Service area due to the heavy rain. There are a number of dangerous roads across the region that have become hazardous, making driving dangerous. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to plan ahead, to drive to the conditions and to avoid making unnecessary journeys. The rain has also caused ground to become saturated in places and there is a risk of it entering some people’s homes. Although Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is coping well with current situation, it is receiving high number of calls and would ask residents not to call about flooding unless the water has entered the property or it is a real emergency and absolutely necessary that the fire and rescue service attends. Although the rain is expected to pass this afternoon, further rain is expected in the early hours of the morning. For advice on how best to protect your home Tel 0870 8506 506 or visit www.environmentagency.gov.uk Residents are asked to continue with regular checks on the weather forecast and tune in to TV and local radio for further updates Use Facebook to Comment on…

BROUGH : New Motorcycle Bays Installed At Station

BroughStation

East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in partnership with First TransPennine Express, has installed six new motorcycle parking bays at Brough railway station to provide a safe and secure location for motorcyclists to park their bikes at the station. Funding has come from the government-supported Local Transport Plan (LTP). The latest LTP includes a rail strategy which supports and promotes more travel by train. A key part of this is the development of rail station travel plans for each of the main railway stations in the East Riding, produced in partnership with First TransPennine Express and Northern Rail, which identify actions to improve accessibility to and from stations and help to promote more train use in the area. Councillor Christopher Matthews, the Council’s portfolio holder for infrastructure, highways and emergency planning, said: “The Council is working in partnership with rail companies to support and promote more journeys by train in the East Riding. “This facility at Brough Rail Station will provide secure parking for motorcyclists using the station and adds to additional cycle and car parking already provided. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to use the train as an alternative to the car for longer…
