East Riding Local Plan

The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, Secretary of State for Transport, is today visiting the East Riding to mark the completion of highway works on the A164 and speak to users of the council’s Wheels to Work Scheme, in Goole, which was funded by the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Local Sustainable Transport Fund (LSTF). The £10 million A164 Humber Bridge to Beverley Route Improvement Scheme, to which the council contributed £2.3 million, began in spring 2012 and was designed to reduce congestion, particularly at peak intervals, and improve traffic flows for up to 35,000 vehicles using the road each day. As well as the installation of a section of dual carriageway, between Willerby and Castle Hill, the council’s contractor, Jackson Civil Engineering, also reconfigured four roundabouts and constructed lengths of new footpath/cycleway. To commemorate the occasion, Mr McLoughlin, Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and Adam Tuke, contracts director for Jackson Civil Engineering, will be planting a tree at the site. In the afternoon, the Transport Secretary will be visiting Goole to view one of the schemes being funded by the £1.8 million the council successfully secured from the LSTF for the ‘Get Moving Goole’…

Former BAE SYSTEMS Brough Employee To Reinvent The Fishing Trip

Fishing Trip

A new website aims to become the definitive website for the fishing community. www.fishingadviser.co.uk was launched by a Brough-based businessman on 1st May with a passion to reinvent the way that people plan and organise their fishing trips The site will become realised with the help of Martin’s project partner Breon Snowdon of Real Design Studios of Hull who is providing specialist design and website support. Martin Credland, previously an employee of BAE Systems until recently, says that he knows exactly what those that go fishing are looking for. Martin said: “We have identified a need for the definitive site for the fishing community. There’s currently nowhere to go online that provides all of the information required about venues and facilities for the fisherman. “My initial idea was that we should create a Trip Advisor for those that go fishing which is, as everyone knows, the most popular sport in the UK. This is a real opportunity to create a service that people are absolutely crying out for.” The initiative, which will see Mr Credland start the brand new business, also has enormous benefits for venue and facilities owners. Martin added: “As well as being the ‘go to’ site for…

Bransholme Residents Are Targeted By Police

April 30, 2013
By
Humberside Police

Four Bransholme streets will be targeted by the Police, Fire and Rescue Service, Community Wardens, ASB Team, Environmental Team, Police Volunteers and Neighbourhood Network on Tuesday 30 April, in an attempt to reduce the number of burglary victims in the area. There was recently a spike in-house and shed/garage burglaries in the North Carr area, so the Neighbourhood Policing Team has taken the lead to tackle crime and give out crime prevention material and advice. If successful, the scheme will be rolled out across the city, as it is hoped that the residents will take on board the hints and tips given by all the partner agencies, who aim to protect the community and deter criminals from offending. Work is on-going in the community, to meet the bi-annual targets, which local residents set the emergency services and Hull City Council. PC Steve Hepworth from the North Carr Neighbourhood Policing Team, is leading the initiative, which will be operating between 0930hrs and 1530hrs. A second multi-agency event is planned for 21 June 2013, but it will take place in a different location in North Carr. The Neighbourhood Policing Team works closely with the local authority, community groups and businesses, particularly in…

Help To Buy Scheme Now Available Across Linden Homes Region

A new Government scheme to help first time buyers and existing homeowners purchase their brand new dream home with just a five per cent deposit is now up and running. The Help to Buy initiative was announced in last month’s budget – and came into force on 1 April 2013. The scheme is the latest in a number of Government incentives to assist people to buy a new build home. Help To Buy is already proving popular among potential customers across the Linden region, and available to purchasers around North East Lincolnshire, Yorkshire and East Riding. Here’s how it works: - Help to buy is available on new build homes only. - Purchasers need a minimum five per cent deposit. - All homebuyers could be eligible, not just first-time buyers. - The government will lend you up to 20 per cent of the value of your property through an equity loan, which can be repaid at any time or on the sale of your home. - Buyers will only need to secure up to a 75 per cent mortgage from a bank or building society. - The maximum home purchase is £600,000. Linden Homes sales director Steve Woomble said: “Despite…
