GOOLE: Police Operation Targets Goods Vehicles

As part of an ongoing national operation tackling a broad spectrum of policing issues, Humberside Police Roads Policing Section has taken the lead on two days of pro-active operations. Working with partner agencies VOSA (Vehicle Operator and Services Agency), HMR&C Road Fuel Testing Unit, UK Borders Agency and Humberside Police Ports officers and Marine Section, the operation was delivered over two days, Monday 13 February and Wednesday 15 February 2012. The first part of the operation took place at Goole, in the Bridge Street and Docks area. Roads Policing officers with the partner agencies carried out compliance checks on Heavy Goods Vehicles operating in the area and delivering to and from the international port to import and export goods. Port officers with Marine Section and UK Borders immigration staff simultaneously boarded vessels in the Dock and carried out checks of seafarers to ensure compliance with UK and European legislation.
