MP Keeps The Pressure On Ambulance Performance

Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, Graham Stuart continues to put pressure on the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to improve the emergency ambulance response times in Holderness. Following concerns raised about the deployment of ambulance crews to other areas Mr Stuart submitted a second Freedom of Information request for clarification of the situation. Graham said, “The information shows that vehicles are being despatched out of area on a regular basis, but equally, crews are being sent from other areas to cover East Riding. “One of the greatest problems is that crews are being delayed handing patients over at hospital. This unacceptable delay forces the ambulance service to spread their resources thinly whilst crews are held up. “Since the introduction of the new GPs contracts by the Labour Government many doctors’ surgeries have opted out of out of hours care, this has seen a huge rise in the number of people who are attending accident and emergency units across the country. The ‘KR Cares’ initiative, which is being run to celebrate the upcoming launch of a new home for the Carers Information and Support Service on King Edward Street on Thursday 6th June, will see nominated carers receive special invitations to the Robins’ clash against the Huddersfield Giants the day after – including the chance to step out onto the pitch at MS3 Craven Park for a special photo opportunity, along with a signed memento of the day – all courtesy of CHCP CIC. Once it’s opened, new Carers Building will give local carers access to a whole host of support services and expert advice all under one roof. Andrew Burnell, Chief Executive of CHCP CIC, said: “There are so many people who wouldn’t consider themselves as ‘carers’, but the work they do is very often essential to the happiness and wellbeing of the person they look after.
