East Riding Local Plan

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is pleased to announce the appointment of local construction company, Hobson & Porter, as the main contractor for the £6million Haltemprice Centre project, with the works scheduled to start at the end of April. The scheme, which forms part of the council’s capital investment programme, was granted planning permission in December last year and will improve access to service provision by bringing a number of local services under one roof, including Anlaby’s library and customer service centre, resulting in reduced running costs as well as addressing a number of maintenance requirements and improving the venue’s energy efficiency. Initial works will focus on the new extension to the rear of the building, which will become the main entrance, and refurbishment of outdoor pitches and creation of additional parking spaces. Work will be phased to minimise disruption, and will take approximately 20 months to complete, with the final element of the works completed in autumn 2014. Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The creation of the Haltemprice Centre to provide a host of services under one roof demonstrates the commitment of this council in continuing to provide high-quality services for our…

Tour De Strawberry Launched To Raise Funds For Whizz-kidz

Tour de Strawberry by Strawberry, one of Hull and East Yorkshire’s leading marketing and design agencies, has set itself an arduous cycling challenge to mark its 20th year in business and raise funds for disabled children’s charity, Whizz-Kidz. The challenge, named ‘Tour de Strawberry’, is to cycle 440 miles from Hull to London, and back again, to visit the Whizz-Kidz head office. Tour de Strawberry was the brainchild of Digital Director, James Greenwood, and is set to take place over four days from the 14th June 2013. Strawberry has teamed up with client and sponsor, Gosschalks Solicitors, to create a team of novice cyclists who are keen to take on the challenge. Team Strawberry will be led by Iron Man athlete and current Hull City first team physio, Stu Leake, who is currently putting the team through their paces with weekly training sessions at The Village Hotel’s gym, Velocity Health and Fitness. The rest of the team is made up of Strawberry’s Digital Director, James Greenwood, Creative Director, Dominic Love, Web Designer, Stu Greenham, Client Services Manager, Jenna Lakhdari and Web Support Assistant, Kat Owen. Gosschalks’ Partner, Richard Taylor, and Business Development Director, Steve Savage, complete the group. The team’s bikes have been designed specifically…
