Two incidents occurred overnight on Wednesday 28 November 2012 to Thursday 29 November 2012 which resulted in a total of four cars being stolen after keys had been taken from houses accessed via insecure doors. In one incident in The Willows area of Hessle a black Ford Focus was taken from a driveway by suspects. It is believed the car keys were taken after suspects gained entry to the house through an insecure door. Another incident in Elloughton, Brough saw a Mini, Mercedes and Renault Clio stolen after their keys were taken by suspects from the house after gaining entry via an insecure rear door. Superintendent Darren Downs said: “Humberside Police cannot stress enough how important it is to leave your property secure, even if you are just leaving it for a matter of minutes. “The incidents outlined above saw two houses targeted and tens of thousands of pounds worth of cars stolen. This type of crime can result in a huge financial loss. Not all insurance companies will cover you if your property was left insecure. “These crimes may not have even been committed had the doors been locked. “I appreciate that not all of these crimes can be…

Do not leave items of value in an unattended cars or vans, is the message Humberside Police are reminding people following a recent number of theft from motor vehicles at a number of sports facilities across the East Riding. In the last fortnight police have seen a number of reports of theft from motor vehicles, whilst the owner has been inside a sports club. Opportunist thieves have broken into secure vehicles and stolen items, which include sat navs, mobile phones, wallets and laptop computers. Police are reminding people not to leave any items of value in your car, no matter how long you may be away from your vehicle, as a thief will take a matter of seconds to steal your items of value. Detective Inspector Paul Kirby from Humberside Police said: “Many people who visit the gym and travel to fitness centres do so on the way home from work, therefore they may have such things as laptops, sat navs and mobile phones in their possession. “Police would advise people, if they do have such things, to take them into the sports centre and use the locker facilities, if they are available, or to ask the staff if they…

Missing 11 Year Old Elloughton Boy

March 7, 2012
By

Police and family are concerned for the welfare of an 11-year-old Elloughton boy who is currently missing from his home address. Benjamin Nicholls, known as Ben to his family and friends from Elloughton in Brough was last seen last night before going to bed shortly after 2100hrs (Tuesday 06 March 2012). Ben suffers from health problems, which deems him not socially adept and will want to be on his own. Ben is 11 years old, 4 ft 8ins tall, slim build and has short brown hair. Ben usually wears glasses, but these remain at home. It is thought Ben will be wearing his black Superdry coat, black boots and likely to be wearing jeans. He has no access to a mobile phone or money and looks younger than 11 years old. Ben has never been reported missing before and this is extremely out of character for him. Police searches are being carried out in Brough, Elloughton and the Dales area, along with checks in fields, at hospitals, on public transport and outbuildings. It is thought Ben, who enjoys walks, may be somewhere away from the public and possibly in a field or wooded area. Police are searching all likely places,…
