Humberside Police is continuing to warn people in North East Lincolnshire of possible Ukash scam in the area. Ukash is a genuine company, which is used to pay for goods and services online but only with the approved merchants listed on their web site. The recent scam has targeted people who it claims are eligible for a PPI refund. Recently an elderly man completed a number of forms after being told he was going to receive a refund for mis sold PPI. The man was asked to purchase a number of UKASH vouchers and call back with relevant information. He carried out this procedure and did not receive any of the money. In recent months Humberside Police have also been made aware of a similar scam, in which it is claimed that people are eligible for a loan. After a victim has visited a website online and filled in an on-line form requesting a cash loan they are called by someone claiming to be from a finance company and informed the loan application has been approved. However, before they can release the funds the victims are asked to make the first payment on the loan using a Ukash voucher. Ukash…
