Vacancies For Two Councillors – Molescroft Parish Council
A by-election to fill the vacancies will be held if 10 electors of the parish write to the chief executive of East Riding of Yorkshire Council at County Hall, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 9BA, by Friday, 10 May 2013 claiming an election. If the chief executive does not receive such a request, the parish council will be informed that it may fill vacancies by co-option, which means that the council members will elect a new member from those who have expressed an interest in joining the council. Sporting Sisters Riding High With Sponsorship Deal
Two of East Yorkshire’s rising stars in the equestrian world are celebrating after securing a sponsorship deal. Laura and Stephanie Milner from Huggate have received support from Equiform Nutrition and Baileys Horse feed to advance their dressage and carriage driving careers respectively. Laura, 18, is a talented dressage rider who spent six months training with international dressage rider Andrew Gould last year and achieved outstanding results in national competitions. This year she plans to continue training the young horses that she has bred and compete locally and nationally with them and undergo further training in Holland. When she’s not competing, she divides her time between teaching young riders, running her own equestrian rug cleaning business, Merlin Equestrian and helping at the family stud, South Grange Stud. In 2012, 16 year old Stephanie teamed up with her father, former British Rally Champion Jonny as the back stepper and helped GB to win a gold medal in the Derby event at the Junior World Carriage Driving Championships. This year, Stephanie hopes to qualify for the National Carriage Driving finals and be selected for next year’s World Championships in Budapest. Hull Collegiate School Visit Ogino In Beverley
As children we are taught not to play with our food but pupils from Hull Collegiate School were recently asked to ignore that advice on a recent school trip to support their learning experience of Modern Foreign Languages. Year 5 pupils from the school were shown how to make sushi at East Yorkshires only Japanese Restaurant Ogino. Owned by Rieko and Julian Ogino-Stamford, the couple welcomed the pupils into their restaurant to teach them how to prepare these artistic and very tasty creations. The head chef Toshimasa, who has cooked for many famous people said; “It was exciting teaching the children not only how to make the sushi, but showing them just how tasty and healthy it can be! The kids seemed to have really enjoyed making the sushi and then of course, eating what they had made. We do hope they have gone away knowing a little bit more about Japan’s cultural background and the type of food they eat.” Modern Foreign Languages is taught at Hull Collegiate School in a very unique and innovative way to other schools.
