Swimming Crash Courses Offered To Boost Swimming Skills

Swimming crash courses being held by Hull City Council in East Hull Pools can help children gain a boost to their swimming skills. The course, which aims to give children some basic swimming techniques and gain confidence in water, will run from Tuesday 12 February to Friday 15 February during half term. The course is for children who can’t swim or have the basics and want to develop their swimming further and to gain more confidence in water. There are limited spaces so it is best book early to avoid disappointment. Swimming Facts & Information Swimming is also a very safe form of exercise because it is considered to be a low impact and easy on the bones and joints. You can do exercises in the water using floats and weights and enjoy a good workout without worrying about serious injury. This is especially true if you have arthritis or other types of physical limitations. Swimming is a good way to lose weight. This form of exercise will stimulate your entire body and could lead to an increase in metabolism over time. Beverley Whitestar FC 2 – 3 AFC Cottingham

Beverley Whitestar after seven weeks without a game finally got back to some football. This should have been a home game, but Thurlow was still too boggy to play on, so the tie was played at Cottingham’s ground, or so we thought. On arriving at Orchard Park, it became clear that pitches had been double booked and after a bit of searching, a vacant pitch at Henry Cooper was offered and gratefully taken. Both teams started off determined to get their league hopes back on track and after 20mins, it was Danny Gibson, who struck first for Beverley Whitestar. This initially put Cottingham’s heads down, but with no goal to follow, as time went on Cottingham got the spirit back and started matching Beverley Whitestar kick for kick. Both teams had a number of chances with Whitestar taking the upper hand. However, the Cottingham keeper was in top form and denied a series of attacks that should have seen Whitestar out of reach. These missed opportunities were made worse when Cottingham slotted home an equaliser just before the break.
