
Beverley Whitestar after seven weeks without a game finally got back to some football. This should have been a home game, but Thurlow was still too boggy to play on, so the tie was played at Cottingham’s ground, or so we thought. On arriving at Orchard Park, it became clear that pitches had been double booked and after a bit of searching, a vacant pitch at Henry Cooper was offered and gratefully taken. Both teams started off determined to get their league hopes back on track and after 20mins, it was Danny Gibson, who struck first for Beverley Whitestar. This initially put Cottingham’s heads down, but with no goal to follow, as time went on Cottingham got the spirit back and started matching Beverley Whitestar kick for kick. Both teams had a number of chances with Whitestar taking the upper hand. However, the Cottingham keeper was in top form and denied a series of attacks that should have seen Whitestar out of reach. These missed opportunities were made worse when Cottingham slotted home an equaliser just before the break.
