Get On Your Bike : Sky Ride Local Events Offer

East Riding residents are invited to dust off their bikes and make the most of a new programme of free, guided Sky Ride Local bike rides this summer. East Riding of Yorkshire Council has joined forces with British Cycling to bring a series of Sky Ride Local bike rides to the area, starting on Sunday, 23 June. Sky Ride Locals are guided by friendly British Cycling Ride Leaders along scenic, planned routes. The rides cater for all ages and abilities and run at three different levels, so there is something for everyone, whether you’re building your confidence or already comfortable on a bike and looking for a challenge. Councillor Chris Matthews, cabinet portfolio holder for infrastructure, highways and emergency planning, said: “Cycling has never been more popular and whatever your age or fitness level. It’s easy to get involved. We’re delighted to be working with British Cycling to make it even easier for local people to get out on their bikes and have some fun this summer.” The first Sky Ride Local rides take place on Sunday, 23 June, at 10am, starting from Longcroft School, Beverley, a 31 mile challenging ride, and Sunday, 23 June, at 2pm, starting from Magdalen…

Hudgell Calls For RFL Explanation Over Poor Refereeing

Hull-FC-V-Hull-KR-038

Hull KR chairman Neil Hudgell has called for a full explanation from the RFL after video referee Steve Ganson chose to award a contentious, late try to Hull FC and has issued the following statement: Hudgell Said “I am a pragmatist, it’s gone now. We can’t get the result back. We have to take it on the chin, give credit to FC for sticking in, and respond in the right way. I know that come the middle of the week this will all be consigned to history and we will sit and look at the table and see ourselves sitting outside the top eight. It is up to us to show resolve and not let this ruin our season.” “At the same time though, I owe it to the fans, players and coach to ask for the RFL to issue a proper explanation for what has to be the single worst decision in the last 10 years of rugby league.” “Going into the last 10 minutes we had three tough calls go against us, with a blatant knock on in the lead up to Hull’s first try, a phantom offside by us giving them the position from which Kirk Yeaman…

Come And Celebrate Diversity With Humberside Police

An event to celebrate and recognise diversity is being hosted by Humberside Police’s Forum (internal staff support group). Members of the local community are invited to attend the function supported by Mr Chus to encourage local communities to become involved with policing in the Humberside area and to make a real difference within the communities in which they live. The main purpose of the event is to bring the police service and local communities together. Local people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to attend the event in the evening of Wednesday 19 June to celebrate the diverse cultures of communities within East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. Insp Sevtap Bolton from the Community Safety Unit, said: “We want to breakdown barriers, perceptions and stereotypes between local communities and Humberside Police and celebrate diversity in an informal manner, meeting local communities and experiencing different cultures. “We are very keen to encourage people from different communities to become involved in policing, and want to use this as an opportunity to engage with people with a view to showcasing Humberside Police as a employer of choice from local diverse communities be it as a volunteer, special, PCSOs, police staff or…

Beverley Braves Beaten By West Hull

Beverley Braves Beaten By West Hull

Beverley Braves under 10s may well have a case if they think the best team lost against West Hull on Thursday at Wally Simpson park. With defences on top, Wests scraped home 10-6 with a dubious looking try late on. What Beverley’s young men lack in rugby league smartness, they more than make up for in effort and endeavour and maybe should have won it at the death but unfortunately centre Alexei Rawlings just couldn’t get hold of a wickedly bouncing grubber close to the line and the game slipped agonisingly away. Once again, Cain Robb led from the front but was just outshone by the pairing of Shamus Blades and Charlie Gay, who were outstanding all game, picking up the man of the match awards. Prop forward Owen Miller, who ran his blood to water and also had a try cruelly chalked off in the second period was again the rock for his team from which the likes of Isaac Merryweather and Ellis Gaden are visibly gaining in confidence week after week. The Beverley Braves try came after a flowing passing movement from right to left ending in Josh Hamlyn gobbling up the final pass from Robb to dive…
