Thoroughbred Car Club To Hold Motor Show At Sewerby Hall

The East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club’s 44th East Coast Car Run will be fuelling the afternoon with an array of entertaining vehicles on Sunday, 10 June on display from 12noon onwards at Sewerby Fields, Sewerby. The run, of approximately 30 miles, will start from East Park, Holderness Road, Hull and vehicles will congregate from 9.30-11am. Any vehicle not wishing to be part of the run can proceed directly to Sewerby Fields, near to Sewerby Hall and Gardens. Last year this very popular event attracted well over 500 visitors and will include buses, commercial vehicles, military and emergency vehicles, historic and classic cars, motorcycles, stationary engines and tractors. The run route will take the vehicles on the A165 to the East Yorkshire coastal resort of Sewerby arriving from approximately 12noon onwards. The area will also include an auto-jumble and a selection of food and drink outlets. Public entry to this event is free and event souvenir programmes, describing the vehicles being exhibited, will be available. Siphoned Fuel Costing Firms Thousands

Police are requesting the public’s support in relation to catching criminals who target commercial vehicles in order to steel diesel or catalytic convertors. In one incident within a commercial yard in Crosslands Lane, North Cave a lorry was targeted and 300 litres of diesel stolen by siphoning from the fuel tank. This offence took place between the 5th and 6th February. Others have occurred throughout the East Riding and are currently being investigated by CID officers. Humberside Police appeal for witnesses to the above offence, but also need the support of all employers and employees of commercial premises or yards where vehicles are left overnight. Detective Inspector Paul Kirby from the Serious and Acquisitive Crime Team said: “Please ensure you work sites are locked, secure and that there is adequate fencing that can prevent entry to a criminal. Other methods such as PIR lighting, CCTV and anti-climb paints are also good preventative measures. “Officers are happy to assist with crime prevention methods and we now have a dedicated member of staff to support businesses that are or may become victims of crime how prevent being a repeat victim in the future.
