Specialist drug dogs from West Yorkshire paid a visit to the East Riding on Friday. Drugs Dogs Millie a 6-year-old Springer Spaniel and Alfe a 3-year-old Labrador, specialists in sniffing drugs on a person will be the special guests of Kirkella Neighbourhood Policing team for the day and night in a bid to tackle potential issues faced in the area. PC Andy White from Kirkella Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “I am pleased to say on Friday Willerby, Hessle and Cottingham will be visited by the dogs to educate students and drinkers of the dangers of illegal drugs.” From 1400hrs on Friday 23 November until the early hours of Saturday morning, police officers in the Haltemprice area will be taking two highly skilled drugs dog into areas, where police have received reports of ASB, alleged drug use and unsocialable activities. Positive Arrests Made by Kirk Ella Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) in May 2012 Kirk Ella NPT has been busy working on a drug’s initiative in May with neighbourhood officers working from Kirk Ella Police Station carrying out arrests to make Kirk Ella and Brough safer. During the busy Fake Festival event in Brough on Saturday 12 May, two men in their early 20s were cautioned for attempt possession of cocaine. Another man was issued a Section 27 dispersal notice which he later breached. He was interviewed and reported for summons. At the same event, a woman was found in possession of cannabis and issued with a warning. Another woman was found in possession of magic mushrooms and cautioned. A third woman was cautioned for attempted possession of cocaine, and one man was taken home and issued a Section 5 Public Order ticket after causing trouble in the event. All the above mentioned are aged early 20s. Additionally, 10 Section 27 notices were issued in the event, along with six stop and searches conducted. A 51 year old man has appeared in Hull Magistrates Court today charged with the importation of Class A drugs. The charge is in connection with a SOCA investigation, in partnership with the UK Border Agency and Humberside Police, in which 84kgs of cocaine was seized at Hull Port on Friday (11.02.12). Gary Pattison (DOB 10.08.60), from Ferry Lane, Woodmansey, Beverley, Hull was remanded in custody to appear via videolink on 20 February.
