Beverley Town Go Three Points Clear

Beverley Town Go Three Points Clear

Beverley entertained St. Andrews for this midweek fixture, knowing a win would put daylight between them and second place Sculcoates, with a game in hand. Unfortunately for Town after his four goal heroics the previous week, Jamie Waltham was unavailable. Richard Gibson came in, with also Matt Dixon and James Whittingham making returns. There was also a comeback for inspirational midfielder Nathan White who has been out with a knee injury for six weeks, and has been sorely missed. On a very solid pitch the game was a little scrappy, but Beverley were beginning to stamp their authority with White prominent in midfield, this gave the chance for something that hasn’t been seen for a while Dave Ricardo getting forward. Ricardo was making some good runs into the opposition box, but the final ball was letting him down. A good chance fell to Town when Mike O’Connell burst into the box, but he sliced his right foot attempt wide of the goal. In fact it was the visitors who took the lead against the run of play, when a long ball out of defence, led to a mix up between centre back Dane Mortimer, and keeper Adam Nicholson, Lewis Poucher…

MATCH REPORT : Beverley Whitestar Rams 6 v 4 Driffield Tigers

Beverley Whitestar

After a run of recent cup games Beverley were glad to get back to league action and took on Driffield Tigers at Leconfield Recreation Ground. Beverley started the game well with fluid passing and pressed Driffield. Despite the early pressure from the home team it was Driffield who scored first when a counter attack sprung the off-side and enabled the striker to finish well one on one with Rams keeper Lewis Richardson. The Beverley coaches were positive from the touch line and they gained a great response from the team, an attacking front line of Max Hollaway, Ollie Baldwin and Ben Hearfield began to exploit their possession and create chances. From further pressure from Baldwin, Beverley gained the equalizer from an own goal. Rams then took the lead when Tom Bruce struck from a curling free kick. With plenty of the half remaining Beverley turned the screw, Hearfield sent in a good cross and Dennis Bailey popped in a great diving header a fourth was then added when Ollie Baldwin broke free and lashed a great shot wide into the top of the net. Beverley started the second half sluggish and allowed a well organised Driffield team back into the…

Beverley Whitestar FC 2 – 3 AFC Cottingham

January 15, 2013
By
Football

Beverley Whitestar after seven weeks without a game finally got back to some football. This should have been a home game, but Thurlow was still too boggy to play on, so the tie was played at Cottingham’s ground, or so we thought. On arriving at Orchard Park, it became clear that pitches had been double booked and after a bit of searching, a vacant pitch at Henry Cooper was offered and gratefully taken. Both teams started off determined to get their league hopes back on track and after 20mins, it was Danny Gibson, who struck first for Beverley Whitestar. This initially put Cottingham’s heads down, but with no goal to follow, as time went on Cottingham got the spirit back and started matching Beverley Whitestar kick for kick. Both teams had a number of chances with Whitestar taking the upper hand. However, the Cottingham keeper was in top form and denied a series of attacks that should have seen Whitestar out of reach. These missed opportunities were made worse when Cottingham slotted home an equaliser just before the break. The second half started where the first had left off, and it was Cottingham, with a never gave up attitude, who got their second. Shortly after the…
