Graham Stuart, the Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, is calling on Beverley residents to ring in the Olympic Games on 27th July.
“All the Bells” is a national event that will see bells up and down the country being rung as loudly as possible at 8.12am, to celebrate the opening of the London 2012 games.
In Beverley, the town crier Michael Wood will lead the ringing of bells in Wednesday Market. People are welcome to arrive from 8.00am, and local traders will be opening early for the event. Every local school has been invited to send a pupil to represent them.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a bell to ring, even if it is on a bicycle or a ring tone on a mobile phone.
Graham said “I hope as many people as possible will get up early on the 27th to help ring in the Olympic Games. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we should mark it in style.”
