Beverley RUFC managed to turn recent good performances into a well-deserved victory over their hosts after beating the weather on Sunday. A delayed kick off, due to frost, saw the visitors tackle tricky conditions with a much better attitude despite going 5-0 down to an early try.
Beverley RUFC got back into the game with aggressive defence producing a series of errors from Scunthorpe and Rob Parker capitalising to touch down after a kick and chase.
Beverley RUFC’s pack got to grips in both the tight, and particularly the loose with Jacob Marin and Harry Couglin getting their team on the front foot. One of many barnstorming runs from Elliot Griffin produced quick ball for the backs allowing Luke Hazell to produce on of his trademark long range tries. Halftime Scunthorpe 5 Beverley RUFC 12.
Beverley RUFC’s pack continued to gain confidence and dominated territory and possession and from a powerful maul Harry Couglin crashed over to make the score 17-5 to Beverley RUFC. With a plentiful supply of ball Beverley RUFC’s backs produced excellent handling in the bitter conditions with John Wright having his best game for the club.
The pressure eventually told with Max Bullement and Joey Franklin controlling the ball and the game. Max completed the scoring dummying his way over from close in to ensure Beverley RUFC completed the win. Scunthorpe scored a late consultation try to make the score 24-10.
