Quiet Garden To Open Near Beverley Town Centre

A new ‘Quiet Garden’ – where people can take time out to reflect on life – is being opened this summer close to .

Volunteers from the Quaker Meeting, Quaker Walk, Beverley, are creating the garden at their Beverley base as a “small haven of tranquility” in the town.

Quaker told HU17.net that with modern life being so busy and fraught, an area dedicated to peace and quiet is essential to people’s well-being.

He continued: “We have such a peaceful location, just five minutes’ walk from , but tucked away down a narrow lane, away from any traffic.

“We realised it could be a small haven of tranquillity for anyone to come and enjoy.

“We’ve designed it with our Quaker values of simplicity, peace, equality and truth in mind, and to appeal to all the senses.

“In a busy, noisy world, quiet spaces like this are really important to our physical, mental and spiritual health.”

The many groups who use the meeting house will also benefit from the new garden, which will be child-friendly and wheelchair accessible.

The creation of the new garden coincides with improving access at the Friends Meeting House, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year.

Quakers have been meeting, worshipping and working in community together in Beverley for over three hundred years.

It will be the second Quiet Garden in Beverley, the other one being at Quiet Garden, off Highgate.
