Beverley Town Cricket Club first team earned a winning draw against the odds at the Norwood Recreation Ground.
Beverley lost the toss and were put into bat, with most of top order failing to make an impression. Anthony Spence was out for a duck while John Fisher managed just 1 run. Olly Grantham after looking settled in the middle was given LBW.
However a solid confident performance by Peter Groves helped steady the ship with opener scoring an unbeaten 154. Groves who still looks a little out of shape kept his cool scoring runs, he could have easily made a double century if he was able to move a little faster between the wickets.
Groves who has fallen short of making a ton this season took no chance picking off the final runs in singles. When he finally reached the his ton Groves punched the air with delight before knuckling down and helping Beverley build a score for the bowlers to defend.
