New Family History Courses at the Beverley Treasure House

Tracing your family is a fascinating and rewarding hobby, but it can be difficult to know where to start.

Help is at hand though with a new programme of family courses and events, which have been launched by the Treasure House.

A family beginners’ day will be held on Saturday, 9 July to get people started in tracing their family tree.

The day will be lead by an expert tutor, who will introduce different ways in which participants can find information about their ancestors.

Participants will have the chance to start finding out about the of their family, meet other new family historians, enjoy a buffet lunch and, at the end of the day, leave with a pack of information to help them research further.

A longer, eight-week course is also available, which will teach all the skills needed to find out about ancestors.

The course will be held on Tuesday evenings, starting in September, and will be priced at £42, which includes a pack of information to help with research.

One -off workshops on using the internet to discover family are also available, with an expert tutor on hand to take participants through the most commonly used websites and provide the opportunity to begin research online.

These workshop run throughout the year or can run for a group or class.
