Captain Terry Jackson struck twice as Mill Lane United continued their valiant battle to avoid the drop.
The powerhouse front-man popped up exactly where and when he was needed to inspire his side to a deserved and much-needed 3-1 defeat of Gilberdyke at Broadgates.
It makes it back-to-back victories for United, who are now pulling clear of the relegation zone in the East Riding County League.
With Rich Partridge scoring the other for United and their leaky defence holding firm, manager Jimmy Young told HU17.net he was “ecstatic with the result”.
Fellow relegation strugglers Haltemprice and Leven Members Club both drew to boost Beverley’s oldest club’s survival chances, and Jackson admitted: “Victory today feels so much sweeter.”
