The Goole Xmas Judo Open provided a fitting end to a stellar 2011 for Beverley judoka, Holly Bentham.
Competing for the first time since the British Championships in October, Holly showed no indication of any ring rust commencing her campaign in lightening fashion throwing her opponent with “O-uchi-gari” to claim victory within seconds of the bout.
Further opponents came and fell with Holly especially impressive with her groundwork fighting, notably holding a tricky combatant from the South of England down for a full twenty five seconds to win that particular contest.
Holly from the East Yorkshire Judo Academy based at Beverley Leisure Centre took the gold medal and is hoping for a similarly successful 2012.
