Beverley Minster was filled with glorious music when the East Riding County Choir performed Handel’s Messiah.
The capacity audience was treated to fine singing from the soloists, Ildiko Allen (soprano), Rupert Enticknap (countertenor), Mark Chaundy (tenor) and Jonathan Gunthorpe (baritone). Ildiko Allen, who was a former pupil at Beverley High School where she is celebrated on their ‘Wall of Fame’, said she was delighted to be performing ‘at home’.
There was splendid playing from the East Riding Sinfonia, and Alan Spedding conducting the combined musical forces produced a memorable evening both for those listening and taking part.
