Dawson Brothers 10K Face Off

Race sponsor Airkool Contracts Limited will be represented by Company Secretary Wayne Dawson and Director Richard Dawson in the Airkool which takes place on Friday 9 July this year.

The last time the brothers raced against each other at Walkington was in 2008.  On that occasion Wayne finished 2 seconds ahead of his elder brother in 50.49.  Last year Wayne did some serious training for the race and finished almost 5 minutes faster.  However he did not have the pleasure of beating his brother for the second time as Richard was unable to compete.  Rivalry between the brothers will be rekindled when they both line up at the start of the race this year.  Wayne has been allocated number 1 and Richard number 2.

Whichever brother finishes first, his time will be recorded accurately as chip timing is being used for the first time at Walkington this year.  Race organiser, , has used this system for two years in the .  As well as providing runners with an accurate time from gun to finish, the electronic timing system automatically records runners as they cross the finishing line.  This is much more efficient than a manual system and enables results to be produced much more quickly.

More than 500 runners have already signed up for the 10k and 150 have entered the 1.75 mile family fun run which is supported by Warner Sports Medicine.

The closing date for both races is 25 June and there will be no entries for either race on the day.
