Beverley Maze Benefits From Wet Weather

is one local tourist attraction that has welcomed the recent miserable patch of the summer.

The growth of the , owned by well-known local sprout farmer at , Risby near Beverley, has been behind schedule due to the dry weather, which has left the 60,000 maize seedlings which form the maze smaller than usual.

It is due to open for its second year on July 23, and this year the theme will be a bee shape, cut using GPS satellite .

Last year, 10,000 visitors came to the , before it was harvested and used for animal feed.

said: “It was a little bit backward but it has certainly made up ground with the nice sunny weather and rain of late.

“Maize is a sun-loving plant and it really does like plenty of sunshine.”
