Overnight we had another dumping of snow in a line from Withernsea south of the A1079 westwards. The Beverley Westwood was the place to head as the snow arrived in Beverley this weekend. With the sporting fixtures canceled up and down country winter sports took over from field sport with plenty of people in Beverley going sledging on the Westwood. Thousands turned up for the annual Beverley Lions Bonfire and Fireworks Display on the Westwood. The bonfire was lit at 7.15 by Mayor of Beverley Bessie Foot and Beverley Lions Chairman Paul James. The crowd were then treated to a fantastic firework show that was described by Lion Bill Rice as the “best ever”. Beverley Racecourse played host to East Yorkshire’s social event of the season, and HU17.net were all over it! Having photographed many of the beautifully-dressed racegoers on their way into Beverley racecourse, HU17.net chartered a light aircraft to get a very different view of the day 1, 500ft above Beverley.
Ladies in their thousands descended on Beverley Racecourse today to enjoy Ladies Day at the races today. The streets of Beverley were awash with colour as many enjoyed a drink in the pubs and bars throughout the town, and limos of all shapes and sizes were on show to ferry the ladies, dressed in their finest, to the races.
