A new Beverley Economy & Tourism Group met for the first time on Tuesday 24th November, bringing together representatives from East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Beverley Chamber of Trade, Beverley’s tourism attractors, Beverley Rugby Club, Visit Hull & East Yorkshire and Beverley Town Council amongst others.
This was an opportunity to bring people together to discuss what a group of people with enthusiasm and passion for their town can do to strengthen the local economy and enhance tourism. The group recognises that support for the private sector is pivotal to ensuring that Beverley has a thriving economy in the future. The group identified the need for a coordinated approach to events and festivals and a need to raise the profile their profile to coach and travel companies outside East Yorkshire.
David Elvidge, Mayor of Beverley and Chair of the new Beverley Economy & Tourism Group, is inviting festival and events organisers to submit their event details for collation in an annual on-line calendar for other residents and visitors to access on It’s All About Beverley -www.hu17.net.
This exercise will help to coordinate the town’s events and festivals, increase the sharing of information between organisers and reduce the clash of events. It will provide events organisers who don’t have a website of their own use of an on-line calendar, free of charge. Those that sign up will be encouraged to link-up to other Beverley event websites.
Paul Smith, author of www.hu17.net is passionate about Beverley and sits on the new action group that aims to strengthen the local economy.
Paul is interested in promoting the various events that take place Beverley to its residents and potential visitors and already has links to local groups, societies and organisations listed on his website.
