Beverley Athletic Club’s Junior section were awarded the Tigers Cup in recognition for their achievements in the 11th Humber Bridge Half Marathon.
Beverley Athletic Club entered 18 runners in the race which took place in the blistering heat of late June, winning both the boys and girls section.
Andrew Harding was first home for the boys and leading the girls was Nicole Dawson.
The juniors coaching team, Neil and Rona Sergeant were ‘delighted’ with the award.
Speaking to Hu17.net, Rona said “It is a real honour. The trophy has been presented to us as a club. These kids work hard training two or three times a week. They race weekly too, taking part in track, cross country and road racing.”
Rona added “The parents deserve to be thanked too. It is they who support the youngsters and bring them to training and race days. We have a good group here aged between 9 – 18, and the camaraderie is great too.”
