Beverley Town Council has confirmed that the 2020 Beverley Food Festival has been cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
They say that hosting such an event, which attracts around 10,000 is just too risky in the current climate.
When Beverley Town Council organised the first Food Festival in 2006, little did they know it would go on to be an annual success enjoyed by thousands of people.
The original idea was to bring a few producers from Beverley’s rural hinterland into the town centre to help celebrate local food, so on a crisp Sunday morning in 2006, thirty-five producers set up their stalls along with a small Food Theatre.
Beverley Food Festival was named the regional winner at the Countryside Alliance Awards. The achievement was celebrated by Town Clerk Helen Watson.
She says she is pleased all the hard work paid off while adding she felt honoured to be invited to the awards ceremony.
The 2019 Bridlington Seafood Festival will once again set taste buds tingling when it returns to the town on The Spa Promenade on the weekend of 15-16 June.
The two-day event, which runs from 10am-4pm both days, will offer seafood cookery demonstrations, free children’s entertainment, live music, educational sessions and, of course, a wide selection of food stalls, traders and exhibitors.
The highly successful Bridlington Seafood Festival will make a welcome return to the town’s seafront on the weekend of 15-16 June 2019.
The seafood festival is led by the Holderness Coast Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) with funding from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
