This year, the UK will be celebrating Father’s Dayon Sunday 20th June. The date changes annually as it always falls on the third Sunday of June.

This tradition was started in the USA at the beginning of the 20th century, and inspired the UK to make it a holiday, too. If you’re struggling to find something to gift, you can find inspiration on what to get your dad for Father’s Day below.

Make it Personal

Father’s Day is all about letting your dad know how much he means to you. It can be notoriously difficult shopping for dads. You can get your dad a personalised Father’s Day gift and make the practical, personal. You could get him a personalised pint glass and splash out on his favourite beer.

Or a personalised mug, with a bag of coffee beans and the promise of coffee catch-ups. Think of something your dad uses in his everyday life, and how you could add a personalised touch to it.

Clothes

Clothes are a classic Father’s Day gift. From socks and slippers to shirts and ties, you can’t go wrong with getting your dad a new item of clothing.

This will depend on your dad’s style. Maybe he’s a fan of comfy jumpers as opposed to fitted shirts. So make sure to tailor your ideas to your dad’s current wardrobe and tastes. It’s a good idea to get him something he’ll actually wear, rather than a novelty clothing item.

Gadgets

Lots of dads love having the latest bit of kit for their hobbies. There are gadgets for different types of dads. Whether it’s a state-of-the-art system to play music on, snazzy kitchen utensils, or the latest power tools for all of their DIY projects – there is bound to be a gadget to match your dad’s interests.

Ask yourself what hobbies your dad has, and what kind of equipment he’d get a kick out of using. Not only will a gadget gift get used a lot, but it also shows your dad how well you know him.

Food

If you can’t think of anything to buy your dad, how about offering to make him some food? Lots of families have a traditional meal on Father’s Day, and you could offer to cook his favourite meal. Or if your dad has a sweet tooth, you could make dessert. If you’re dubious about your kitchen skills, a classic box of chocolates, or taking him out to a pub lunch would definitely go down a treat.

Father’s Day is a time to let your dad know how much he means to you. Whatever you end up getting him, he’ll appreciate the effort you’ve gone to. Does your family have any Father’s Day traditions?
