Revell 1/32 BAe Hawk T.1A “Red Arrows” Build Review and Photos

Revell always has managed to offer good value when it comes to large scale model planes and their pricing point. That is again the case with the Revell 1/32 Red Arrow.

While it may not be packed with details, the Revell 1/32 Red Arrow never the less is a decent-sized model for the price.

Putting the kit together is straightforward with no major headaches. Weight is certainly needed it should be added to the nose cone before joining the two halves of the main body.

While for some the detail may not be enough, there is plenty of add ons that can be purchased. In terms of painting, this model was completed using Tamiya and Humbrol paints.

Revell 1/32 BAe Hawk ‘Red Arrows’ The Build

Generally speaking, the build is very simple. You start with the cockpit and slowly add parts to the main sections before joining them. The wings fit well with a little filler needed here and there. However, the intakes can be quite tricky. These parts needed a few layers of filler to conceal all the join marks.

Once all the joins were filled and sanded the model was primed in black paint. The next coat applied was lemon yellow. Finally, the red paint was applied all over the model. Prior to decals, the entire build was coated in Tamiya clear.

Decals for this model are very thing. They were applied and in some places post shaded using white to help lift them a bit. The tail decals were applied then carefully masked off ahead of the royal blue being sprayed onto the tail.

Wheels and all the other smaller fins and wing lights were added and painted completing the build.

Revell 1/32 ‘Red Arrow’ Conclusion

Over this is a good model of an iconic aircraft. Once built it makes for a good display model really standing out given its bright red colour and livery. There are some issues, mainly the decals which are very poor all things considered. However, given the price of this plastic model kit, it is certainly worth the money.
