PPC Candidate Issues Statement On Criminal Fraud

Police and Crime Commissioner candidate Keith Hunter has issued a statement in which he raises his concerns in relation to fraud.

He is calling for more clarity saying that any candidate put forward can now not be trusted.

In a statement released Keith said;

“I am handing a file to Humberside Police that I believe sets out a well-evidenced case pointing to a criminal fraud having been perpetrated against the public of the Humber area during the campaign for the Police and Crime Commissioner election.”

“A number of people have come forward to me with information about Craig Ulliott and his campaign to become PCC. I was previously a senior detective of many years standing and have cast a critical eye over all the information in my possession. Pieced together I believe the case of fraud is clearly made and I am asking the Chief Constable to ensure a thorough and speedy investigation into this matter so the public can have some answers.”

“What became absolutely clear to me is that the whole Conservative campaign, fronted by Craig Ulliott, was based upon lies and deception. Lies about the competence and credibility of the candidate, misleading statements about Humberside Police and a deception that, if voted into office, Ulliott could override the decisions of this hugely successful Chief Constable and, based just upon his experience as a volunteer special constable, start re-arranging how the Force is organised.”

“What is massively concerning is that since Ulliott was outed I have been contacted by people who believed every undeliverable promise he made and think he has been unfairly made to stand down. This indicates his deceptions continue to have an influence on voters  and illustrates the very real danger of the unchecked growth of a culture of lying in politics.”

“Ulliott did not do this alone, however. This person who told the public he worked in Financial Services, but who really dished out unaffordable rent to buy agreements and doorstep loans at extortionate rates to desperate people, was chosen by the Conservative Party despite this background. He was then endorsed, supported and encouraged by the Conservative Party machine, from the national to the local, as the right person for the job of overseeing our police service and managing £200 million of public money. These people within the Conservative Party then allowed Ulliott to conduct his campaign of deception unchallenged for well over a year until they were finally cornered and had to act.”

“The public deserves answers – who else was actively involved in this deception – who knew what and when and who kept quiet about this fraud on the people of our area. Until we do know it doesn’t matter who the Conservatives put forward as their second-choice candidate – they are and will remain tainted. An ongoing conspiracy of silence within the Conservative Party is simply not acceptable. Trying to present a clean pair of hands and attempting to continue with a campaign pretending this didn’t happen is not acceptable.”

“This is not political game playing. We look to our leaders for a moral compass. I have spent my whole adult life in the fight against crime, either on the front line, developing the people or improving the organisations involved in that endeavour. Presented with evidence of a crime I had a simple choice – do nothing or do something and speak out against the corruption of our political system. I am still the Police and Crime Commissioner and in a position of leadership and I have never turned away from what needs to be done.”

People in the region will go to the polls on 6 May when they will have their say on who will be elected as the Police and Crime Commissioner for the region.
