Spring Is In The Air At Shepherd’s Rest

Meet the shepherdess welcoming new arrivals to Risby Homes’ Shepherd’s Rest in Beverley, a 74-home development of two, three and four-bed properties located off Shepherd Lane close to Minster Way.

Alongside 35 new home buyers, Risby Homes’ site coordinator Amy Barrett has welcomed three new lambs to her flock so far this spring, a flock which inspired the name for the latest development by award-winning East Yorkshire housebuilder Risby Homes.

The Shepherd’s Rest properties include the four-bedroom Swaledale and three-bedroom Romney, each named after different breeds of sheep relating to the existing street names.

Work began on the Shepherd’s Rest development in 2018, with the first residents moving in during November 2019. With over 60 per cent of homes already reserved, these high-quality homes are proving popular with home buyers despite the pandemic.

Amy Barrett explained:

“Despite the pandemic, interest in the site has been buoyant with 46 of our 73 homes already reserved and 35 homes already occupied by residents. We’re delighted to have welcomed nearly half our home buyers and families to the site already.”

Since Amy’s father Mark Barrett built his first development in Beverley in 1993, Risby Homes has become a family affair, with deep-rooted values at the heart of its business.

Amy added:

“I had sheep growing up as my grandparents were farmers and I always enjoyed bottle feeding the pet lambs. While I worked away from home I didn’t have any sheep, so when a local farmer had some that needed bottle feeding I couldn’t resist and I ended up looking after the strays. I now have 10 sheep in my flock: two boys, two pet lambs and three ewes who have given birth to three lambs, with more lambs due any time now.”

There are currently only two homes for sale on Shepherd’s Rest.
