Temporary Changes To some Buses During National Lockdown

From Sunday 17 January bus company East Yorkshire will be making temporary changes to some buses, in response to the national lockdown.

A small number of late-night journeys will be suspended, and some frequent buses in Hull will run slightly less often due to lower numbers of people travelling.

These changes will allow the company to allocate resources to where they are needed most.

The routes affected are Services 33/34/44, 56/57, 63, 66, 103, 104, 105, 121, 151, 152, 153, 154 and X46/7.  All other services are unaffected and will continue to run as normal.

The new timetables for these services are available to view online now at www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk and on the East Yorkshire Buses app.

Those without internet access can get the new times by ringing the travel advice service BusLine on 01482 59 29 29, open Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm, and Saturdays 8am-6pm.

Ben Gilligan, East Yorkshire’s Area Director, said:

“We will still be running nearly all our services as normal, to allow key workers to get to and so people can do food shopping and get to medical appointments.  We’ve seen a significant drop in demand for services, as well as having to protect some of our own staff who are shielding, so by retiming some quieter journeys we can reallocate our resources to busier journeys that are more important to key workers.”

To keep everyone safe, it’s important that those who are travelling for essential purposes such as employment and grocery shopping should continue to follow safety advice, including:

  • Travelling at quiet times, where possible
  • Washing your hands before and after travelling
  • Paying by contactless or buying a ticket on the East Yorkshire Buses app, rather than paying with cash
  • Wearing a face covering throughout the journey
  • Staying at home and not travelling if you have any coronavirus symptoms, however mild

These timetables will remain in place until lockdown lifts or government guidance changes.  You can keep up to date with the latest travel advice by visiting eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk, downloading the East Yorkshire Buses app, or following the company’s social media channels.
