Local housebuilders Barratt Developments are donating over 40 defibrillators from sites across the region to help the fight against coronavirus.

Donations are also taking place on a national scale too. The firm aim to donate over 400 defibrillators to the volunteer-led charity, St John’s Ambulance.

The nation’s leading first aid charity is now on the frontline, supporting individuals and communities through the coronavirus pandemic in an effort to relieve pressure on the NHS.

Barratt says they are always keen to help the local community thrive. They also add this has never been more important in times of such hardship like these.

As a result, the company has started a nationwide appeal. This is called Take the Strain and its goal is to source desperately needed equipment to assist in the vital role St John’s Ambulance is playing.

Responding to the call for help, the country’s largest housebuilder has committed to donating the defibrillators from all its sites. Also, in addition, it will be purchasing new defibrillators to donate to the cause.

To date, an estimated 400 defibrillators have been donated, worth more than £300,000.

Teams from Barratt Developments are urgently collecting the defibrillators from sites across the country. These are currently being delivered to where they are needed.

Defibrillators Just One Of The Measures Developer Is Taking To Support Community

As part of its response to support the fight against coronavirus, Barratt Developments has also donated £100,000 to NHS Charities Together.

They support 250 NHS charities across the UK collectively, giving money every day to the NHS so that people can stay well for longer and recover faster. It also plays a key role in mobilising volunteers to support NHS staff, mental health, community health and ambulance trusts.

These moves follow an earlier initiative last week from the housebuilder to donate personal protective equipment, including thousands of FFP3 face masks, gloves, hand sanitiser and soap to local NHS hospitals and social care services across the country.

Daniel Smith, Managing Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, said:

“We are honoured to be able to donate this equipment where it is urgently needed to help St John Ambulance. They are on the frontline, supporting the NHS and helping to save lives.”
