Colin Sangwin Joinery is giving away free bird box kits as they look to their bit to help raise morale and keep children in their village active during these difficult times.
The joinery firm specialises in making sash windows, doors, mouldings and any bespoke items and is based in Leven.
The firm based in Leven started by giving a handful of kits away. Since their first kind gesture it has taken off and now they are running a competition.
Speaking to HU17.net Colin said;
“We decided to give away some bird box kits to local people to help peoples morale and inspire them to do something together.”
“The kits contain wood cut to size, nails and instructions. We made 20 boxes at first but they soon got snapped up with in the first evening.”
“As a result of this, we made another 60 and so on to where we are up to today of 130 boxes made and given away.”
“Currently we have the materials for another 70 boxes. This will bring our grand total to 200 bird boxes.”
“So far the feedback we have been receiving from the community has been lovely.”
“It has been fantastic to be able to provide some entertainment to people in these difficult times.”
Colin Sangwin Joinery Thrilled With Response To Bird Box Kits
“Now we are going to carry that on and have decided to run the best design competition on our Facebook page.”
“So now we are encouraging people that once they have completed their bird boxes to post a picture. It also means by doing this we are helping to increase the bird housing in the local area.”
“Bird boxes are available to anyone who can pick them up. We are asking people to message or comment on our page to let us know how many they are wanting.”
“We also need to know when they are wanting to pick them up so we can try and limit any disappointment and have enough boxes ready.”
“Also we have supplied a local Beverley school with some boxes for the key worker’s children.”
