Former students of Bishop Burton College are looking to reunite the class of 1970/71.

A group of former students of the college say they are setting up the event to mark the 50th anniversary since they attended the college.

Local farmer Robin Rivis who is helping organise the event said;

“This is an ambitious effort on our part to reach out to all those students who studied alongside us at the famous college in the early seventies.”

“We would love to renew old friendships. While we also want to spend some quality time socially over a nice meal, catch up and reminisce.”

 “Also we are planning a guided tour in the afternoon. This tour will be so we can view the many new buildings and estate developments that have reshaped the college campus over the years.”

“I would like to appeal to all those students and also ex-staff who enjoyed their time at Bishop Burton all those years ago to make contact with us.”

“We would also like to urge others to spread the word to others they may still be in touch with.”

Former Bishop Burton College Student Has Fond Memories

who attended the college back in the 70s says he has fond memories of his time there. Originally from Bradford, he studied at Bishop Burton College for two years.

Speaking to HU17.net he said;

“The college has certainly changed since we were there as students. There were only around 80 residential students in those days. Now they have around 350 living on campus.”

“Also the college has really diversified in what is offered. They have added a host of course in things like fashion, sport and art.”

“It is a far cry from when were there. Back then the principle, Dennis Hurst, made male students shave their beard and cut their hair short or face expulsion.”

“It caused quite a stir with local media covering the story.”

The special reunion is scheduled to place on Sunday 14 June. It will involve an anniversary lunch at the college.
